Stop Genocide: a demand to stop brutality and injustice

ZAHIR Raihan, one of the most leading filmmakers of Bangladesh, has actively participated in almost all the movements during the Pakistan period. From the Language Movement to the Liberation War, his involvement was multidimensional. His involvement with all those movements played a vital role in the characterisation of his works and had helped in portraying the mass awakening of his time in all his films, stories, and novels.

‘ব্যক্তি’কে খুঁজতে গেলে ‘ব্যক্তি’র স্বীয় প্রতিভাকে যেমন মূল্য দিতে হয় তেমনি সেই প্রতিভার উৎস এবং বিকাশের কারণ তালাশ করতে হয়ে সমাজের মধ্যে, যে সমাজে ব্যক্তি তাঁর দিনযাপন করছেন। জহির রায়হানের প্রতিভা এবং তাঁর কালের আর্থ-সামাজিক অবস্থা নিয়ে অনেক আলাপ হয়েছে, এই দিকে আমি যাবও না। বরং, ‘মানুষ’ জহির রায়হান কেমন ছিলেন, সেটা দেখব তাঁর সহযোদ্ধা ও সহকর্মী - চলচ্চিত্র জগতে বাংলাদেশের আরেক দিকপাল - আলমগীর কবিরের বয়ানে ও দৃষ্টিতে।
